Jack Riffice and Rocco Megaro Leadership Award

LetzBox Chicago Presents the Jack Riffice and Rocco Megaro Leadership Award "Deeds not words" means actions are more important and revealing than mere talk. The phrase emphasizes that fulfilling promises and showing sincerity through behavior is what truly matters, not just making statements. It's a call for authenticity, where what you do defines you more than what you say. It is translated from the Latin, "Facta non verba" and echoed in modern sayings like "walk the walk."
Jack Riffice and Rocco Megaro embody what it means to get things done without the need to talk about it or pat themselves on the back. They volunteer countless hours to support the Mount Carmel community and students. They have done so for many years. They have mentored and prepared countless Mount Carmel students, past and present, to do one of the hardest things there is to do at Mount Carmel: to step in the boxing ring and compete at the annual Mount Carmel Fight Night. They are true leaders and their impact with these student-athletes lasts a lifetime!

This award will be presented yearly to a current freshman, sophomore or junior who:

1. Participates in spring boxing practices and Fight Night;
2. Maintains above a 2.5 cumulative GPA;
3. Is actively involved in other school activities (sports, clubs, student council, etc.);
4. Takes an active role in leadership among his fellow students and community while treating everyone with respect; and
5. Embodies the characteristics of Jack and Rocco by leading the way through actions, not words.

The Scholarship:

1. Will be presented when we hand out the awards at lunch the week following Fight Night;
2. Will be given to 2 recipients;
3. Is $1,500 each per awardee, applied to Mount Carmel tuition for the following school year;
4. Is for one year and each recipient can apply again the following year.
